FAQ
Here you will find answers to all things mysterious...
Why Hire me?
The Answer is simple.
1. I provide the services of a full-service interactive agency - without the cost. Due to the high overhead of a agency or firm, they will charge $100 - $200 an hour! On average I charge $65 an hour.
2. I provide the quality of a full-service interactive agency. I have experience as a senior web developer at a boutique firm and the head of an in-house design department.
3. I have a team of programmers (ASP and PHP) and designers to ensure the proper talent is applied to your project.
3. Me and my team are available during business hours; unlike many freelancers.
4. Resources. Need marketing or PR? How about iPhone software development? I have partners that can provide many services beyond web design and development.

How Long Will It Take?
The answer is subjective.
The length of any project depends on the scope of work, the amount of revisions needed and the response time from yourself. To give you an idea, a small website on a content management system, with good response from the client and minimal revisions can take as little as four weeks. On the other hand the same project with many revisions and slower client response can take three months. Larger projects, such as a ecommerce site with ERP, CMS etc. can take six months or more.
How Much Will It Cost?
Each project is unique, so there is no fixed price for a service.
On average, smaller HTML websites generally start around $1200, websites with a Content Management System start around $2000. The more functionality required the more the project will cost. A website with Ecommerce, CMS, ERP integration can range from $15,000 to $50,000. The more thought, research and design that is put into a site, the more it will cost; as well as have a better return.
Please contact me and I can get you a cost for your specific needs.
Do I Need A Designer or Developer?
Both.
A web designer is a person who can create designs, address User Interface (very important), do basic coding and maybe place a website on to a content management system. They are more "Front End" people that deal with the visual aspects and interactions with the web user.
A web developer is a person who does more programing and creates functionality behind a website. They are typically the ones who make Ecommerce sites and sites like YouTube or Facebook work.
Designers and developers almost always collaborate on projects. Sometimes a designer is also a developer and sometimes a developer is also a designer.
As the traditional static website, or brochure site, is becoming a thing of the past and interactivity with the web user is becoming a standard; your website will probably need some form of development work.
Do I Offer Discounts?
Dang, this question always gets asked.
As my rates are very reasonable for the level of service provided, I do not offer discounts.
However, I am interested in better this world and humanity. I offer special pricing for non-profit organizations. Once a year I do a pro-bono site for a non-profit of my choice. If you are a non-profit please inquire with me to see if I have done my pro-bono site this year.
What Size Businesses Do I Work With?
Typically small businesses.
I generally work with businesses under 50 employees, start-up businesses, artists and individuals. I have worked for large companies, i.e. for the gentleman that started Odwalla Juice.
Are There Hidden Costs?
No.
I provide a detailed proposal and provide a list of all costs associated with your project. I even provide details of costs that I will not be charging you for; such as hosting, domain registration or outside services such as copyrighting or PR & marketing.
How Soon Can We Get Started?
The sooner the better!.
In general it will be 4-6 weeks before we can begin your project. This may seem like a long time, though I find that often it takes several weeks to get through the process of getting started (see below).
Do You Offer A Satisfaction Guarantee?
Yes.
It's in the details. I find that if the details of a project are sorted out at the beginning and all parties have a complete understanding of what is expected, what will be derived and what is defined as success - the project will succeed. If the project succeeds, you as the client are happy. I always do whatever it takes to ensure you are satisfied with the final results. If the projects does not meet the goals defined in the proposal, I will meet those goals or provide a pro-rated discount.
What is the process for getting started?
Here are the steps:
1. Inquire and give me a brief overview of your project.
2. I will provide a loose email estimate of the cost range of your project.
3. If the estimate falls within your budget we will schedule a time to talk through the details of your project.
4. I will then provide a detailed proposal with a accurate final cost.
5. If you approve the proposal we will establish a service agreement.
6. Once we have a signed service agreement and a deposit on the project I will schedule the project in.
7. During the period when we are waiting to start, I will have you gather all necessary assets for the project, such as content.
